Ezine Advertising -- Is it Worth the Effort?

With over 90,000 ezines in publication and thousands of subscribers..you betcha it’s worth the effort. If your reading this you already know what an ezine is. If your not sure,here is a brief explanation . An ezine is a regularly published electronic Magazine or Newsletter...sorta/kinda . They are generally delivered to the subcriber via email.Their content is usually based on a theme or particular interest.

Most of us as marketers subscribe to a number of business or trade ezines, these publications are centered around tips on how to develope, promote,or advertise our businesses. Advertising in these types of ezines are great if your trying to sell business to business products . But as business people we tend to forget that there is a much larger group of people using the World Wide Web and these people travel in a different circle than us ..so to speak. But they to subscribe to ezines on every imaginable subject.

The best thing about ezines is you know people are going to read them because they willingly subscribed to them. After all direct mail is the leading method for generating Internet sales and you won’t find these addresses on opt-in lists . . . What better way to get your offer in their email boxes without the fear of someone yelling that nasty word SPAM ?

More and more companies are using ezines or newsletters as a method to keep customers informed of new products and company updates . Most of these ezines offer advertising .

Prices vary depending on the popularity of the ezine, and the actual location of your ad in the ezine . Top position ads general cost more than those found mid-way in the publication,and some ezines have a free classified section at the end of their publication. Shop around before jumping into the ezine advertising arena , make sure your product or offer is suitable for the ezine you intend to advertise in. After all you probably won’t get very good results advertising cigarettes in a ezine dedicated to health issues. Develope a killer title or headline line for your advertisment , in most cases this is the only thing  that will get your ad read. Keep your ad short and to the point . After all your trying to get them to your website,let your site do the  selling.

The best way to get started advertising in ezines would be to contact the editors of any that you may be subscribed to ( how about this one?)Check their rates, publication dates, and number of subscribers . The number of subscribers is important, it generally dictates the ad rates. If your advertising budget is limited , start out in a few of the smaller publications and track your results. Once the orders start rolling in (and they will)expand to the larger publications.

There is no better way to reach targeted customers, than ezine advertising.
